7 Tips To Take The Perfect Selfie With Kids

It's amazing how moms can get the best expressions with their kids through a simple click. The best part of this is that mommy/daddy can be a part of the picture too! The best memories you can gift your kids are pictures with 'you' in them! And that's why I think selfies are a great way to capture a moment or a memory.

I'm sure you have seen plenty of Mom’s selfies + their minis do the rounds on the internet. Well, the good news is that its easy to make your own versions in a matter of seconds!

Here are a few tips to ace the perfect selfie with your kids!

1. Lighting is key. If you want a good picture, make sure there's enough light falling on you + your LO. This may require you to shift position, turn around a bit, but do it. Better to have a good moment captured than one that reaches trash over time.

2. Since you are around your LO all the time, it's easy to capture them when they're in a good mood. Get the timing right. Remember, your favourite selfies with your kids are (someday) going to be the ones where they’re making faces, refusing to do what you ask them to do, or just being silly.

3. Don't use that phone camera flash unless you absolutely positively need it. Being a natural light photographer, I'm biased and advice moms to stay close to a window/door while clicking that image. It turns out wayyy nicer!

4. While kids don't know how to fake a smile, you do. And here's why you shouldn't. Avoid your 'camera-smiles' and gleefully smile back at your LO through the camera <3

5. Angles! You have the liberty to decide which angle suits you best and play to it by just moving your phone around. Hallelujah to that and goodbye double chins! Everyone’s favourite is a top angle!

6. Please don't over edit your selfies. Your LO should be able to see you for what you are when he sees those pictures 30 years later. I use VSCO + Snapseed for editing my images.

7. Print, Print, Print! Images shot on your cell phone will be lost in the cloud in seconds. Print out the good ones and store them in a box/album. Research states that keeping family portraits around the house help in boosting a child's security and self-confidence.
